ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Rita J. Ray is a writer of poetry, essays and memoir. Previous published works include poetry books: From the Shadows;

Because of Him – Poems of Praise, Thanksgiving and Devotion; and Color My Thoughts. Essays were published in Los Angeles County Library's Tell Your True Tell series, Volumes 5 and 6 and an article on single parenting was published in Christianity Magazine. Rita created the blog G-ma’s Place, which focused on articles of importance to grandparents.

Rita achieved a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California and worked as a reporter for the Associated Press. She went on to earn a masters’ degree in educational administration and launched a career in public education that included teaching, being a school administrator and finally a director in the office of human resources.

A life-long writer, she cites the following as some of her inspirational authors: Nikki Giovanni, Zora Neale Hurston, Maya Angelou, Gwendolyn Brooks and Alice Walker.
